It was 2005, my first year as a performer and my first year as a Honours graduate of Business Management. I had just told my first generation Canadian parents that I would not be pursuing my degree, but instead I was going to move to the city and become an actor! I can assure you that what ever you are imagining, the reality of this conversation was worse… much worse. I moved to Toronto with $800 in my pocket and slept on my best friend’s couch for 3 weeks until I could find work in the hospitality industry and an apartment. I struck what is known in the industry as: “Beginners Luck” and I landed a coveted guest star role with Taye Diggs. My first union job! And my first taste of what my next 18 years would be like. I have been fortunate enough to work on some of the best US shows, and work with some extraordinary talent. I spent 5 years living bi-coastal travelling between LA and Toronto and have been repped by Industry’s best Talent and Management companies on both sides of the border. And yes, trust me there have been a few. In a dance of being in the right place at the right time, putting in old fashioned hard work and using what I call “street smarts” I built a name for myself as being an innovative, brave performer.

But in my heart, I knew there was more that could be done to leave a footprint and an impact on the industry. The Actors Pitch, was born out of my own need to find representation for myself. I realized quickly that this was a unique and compelling way for me to stand out. When I first created my own package I was amazed how many meetings I was able to get completely unsolicited, both in LA and Vancouver. I was signed within a week and all agents responded within 3 hours. It was shocking. Casually, I started offering this service by word of mouth and again I was amazed how quickly my clients were getting signed.
